VARSITY HEAD COACH
COACH SAM WOOLFORD
Coach Wollford came to Texas in 1995 after playing for the first high school lacrosse team in Louisiana history. Sam enjoyed a successful four year career with TCU’s lacrosse team and was voted both captain and offensive MVP in his senior year.
Sam took his first coaching position with Highland Park’s 7/8 youth team in the 2003 season eventually moving up to coach the Highland Park freshman in 2004 and 2005. In his two seasons with the freshman, his teams lost only two games.
While attending graduate school in Phoenix, Arizona, Coach Woolford served as offensive coordinator for the Chandler High School Wolves, leading the team to consecutive playoff berths. Six members of the Wolves’ 2006-2007 roster will participate in NCAA sanctioned college lacrosse in Spring 2011.
In the prior two seasons, Coach Woolford has served as an assistant on SMU’s coaching staff and as a head coach in St. Mark’s bantam program.
ASSISTANT HEAD VARSITY COACH
COACH LANCE JACOBS
Coach Jacobs starting coaching lacrosse in 2005 with PSA. He then moved on in 2006 and was one of the co-founders of Wrangler Lacrosse North Texas. The Wrangler Teams were designed for the players that wanted to learn and play at a higher level. They were the first organization to not be affiliated with a school.
Coach Jacobs was selected to head coach of the 2007 Lonestar Lacrosse U-13 Utah Team and was the Assistant Head Coach of Team Texas U-15 team which traveled to the Tri-States to play lacrosse on the East Coast.
Born in New York, coach played lacrosse on Long Island (home of lacrosse) with his brothers (4) until family moved to Texas in 1978, and graduated from Garland High School in 1981 “GIG’em Owls”.
Coach Jacobs is married to Becky and has three children (Amanda, Tyler & Emily). Tyler is currently a Jr. at Plano Sr. High.
Coach Jacobs is President of Wagner Packaging Machinery in Plano TX.
JUNIOR VARSITY HEAD COACH
Coach Schneider started playing lacrosse his sophomore year of high school for Plano Senior High even though he attended and graduated from Plano West.
Coach Schneider received All-District his junior year and All-State his senior year.
Coach Schneider played at Lehigh University for a year on a full scholarship then went to Texas Tech to play 3 years earning All American in 2008, and 1st team All Conference for midfield and face off all 3 years.
He has coached numerous summer camps directly after high school, and was the head JV Coach at Plano West 2003-04. The years he attended Texas Tech and didn't play, he used his spare time to help coach the Tech Lacrosse team.
Coach Schneider states "I am proud to be a part of my high school team as a coach now instead of a player".
Coach Schneider is currently playing for the Dallas Sharks along with Coach Ryan and other Texas Tech alumni.
ASSISTANT COACH OFFENSIVE
COACH ANDREW KOHL
Coach Kohl came to Texas from Northfield Illinois, a suburb of Chicago where he played lacrosse four years for New Trier High School and then followed up by playing four years for the University of Illinois where he lead the league in goals as a midfielder and was selected as a MCLA All American.
Coach Kohl has coached at numerous Lacrosse camp across Illinois and also helped out his high school's summer program.
After graduating college, Coach Kohl accepted a position at a CPA firm in 2008 (Montgomery Coscia Greilich LLP) and has been in Texas since.
In his free time, Coach likes to race triathlons, play golf and is also a plays in the Dallas Men's Lacrosse League. Come the end of 2011, Coach will be running in the Ironman Arizona - Good Luck..
ASSISTANT COACH DEFENSIVE
Coach Matthiesen was born in Texas, and grew up in Plano.
Graduated from Plano Senior in 2001. Coach Matthiesen started playing lacrosse his senior year of High school and has played since.
Coach Matthiesen continued to play lacrosse during his college days at Texas Tech from 2003-2006. Coach was an all conference player his last 3 years at Texas Tech.
Today Coach Matthiesen now plays for the Dallas Sharks men’s team,
He also coached a semester with a youth team in Allen in 2009 (we wouldn't hold it against him). Coach Matthiesen states "I am excited to back at Plano to help bring the Wildcats back to the top".
